Overview

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) provides comprehensive primary and specialty healthcare services to eligible beneficiaries within a Military Treatment Facility (MTF). Working within the scope of clinical privileges granted by the MTF, the Provider delivers evidence-based medical care for routine, acute, and chronic conditions while promoting health maintenance, disease prevention, patient education, and overall readiness of the military healthcare system. The Provider collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure high-quality patient care and positive health outcomes.

 

*Position is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive patient assessments, examinations, and medical care for routine, acute, chronic, and minor trauma conditions involving all organ systems.
  • Diagnose, treat, and counsel patients in accordance with accepted clinical practice guidelines, treatment protocols, and scope of practice.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic studies, laboratory testing, and other clinical assessments as appropriate.
  • Prescribe medications, immunizations, and therapeutic interventions in accordance with approved treatment protocols and applicable regulations.
  • Promote preventive healthcare, wellness initiatives, annual physical examinations, and health maintenance programs.
  • Educate patients and family members regarding disease prevention, treatment plans, self-care, and healthy lifestyle practices.
  • Recognize emergency medical conditions and initiate appropriate treatment or referral to higher levels of care.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and facilitate optimal clinical outcomes.
  • Provide clinical guidance, mentoring, and instruction to healthcare staff and participate in in-service education and training programs.
  • Participate in staff meetings, case reviews, quality improvement initiatives, patient safety activities, and continuing education programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all Military Treatment Facility policies, infection control standards, and universal precautions.

Qualifications

For Nurse Practitioner Candidates

  • Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Current certification in the specialty area required by the task order through an approved national certifying body (e.g., ANCC, AANP, or specialty-specific certification organization).
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license.
  • Clinical experience sufficient to meet Service-specific credentialing and competency requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain clinical privileges at the Military Treatment Facility.

 

For Physician Assistant Candidates

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited Physician Assistant program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
  • Current certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted Physician Assistant license as required by the Task Order.
  • Clinical experience sufficient to meet Service-specific credentialing and competency requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain clinical privileges at the Military Treatment Facility.
