Overview

The Pharmacy Technician provides pharmaceutical support services within Military Treatment Facilities at Kadena, Japan. The position supports pharmacists in delivering safe, accurate, and efficient medication services to military personnel, dependents, and other authorized beneficiaries while ensuring compliance with military healthcare regulations and pharmacy standards.

 

*Position is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and dispense medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Process prescription orders and verify patient information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with medication inventory management, ordering, stocking, and expiration date monitoring.
  • Provide administrative and customer support within the pharmacy department.
  • Utilize electronic pharmacy and medical record systems to document and track prescriptions.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, DHA, and pharmacy regulatory requirements.
  • Complete all required orientation and annual training requirements.
  • Maintain infection control practices and follow universal precautions.
  • Support quality assurance and patient safety initiatives within the pharmacy department.
  • Maintain professional conduct and clearly identify contractor status while on duty.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Pharmacy Technician certification through PTCB or equivalent preferred or required by task order.
  • Previous pharmacy technician experience in a hospital, clinic, or retail pharmacy setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, medication handling, and prescription processing procedures.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Must satisfy all Government credentialing, health, immunization, and installation access requirements.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced military healthcare environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
