Overview

Location: Naval Medical Center Portsmouth

Schedule:Services shall be provided Monday through Saturday, between the hours of 0600 and 1900 hours. Shifts will normally be scheduled for four (4) to ten and half (10.5) hour period.

Pay rate: $28.50/hr & $5.09*/hr for Health & Wellness pay

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care within scope of LPN practice
  • Assist with orthopedic clinic procedures and patient flow
  • Follow infection control and aseptic techniques
  • Respond to emergency situations using established protocols
  • Document patient care accurately and on time
  • Maintain and update medical records and reports
  • Use systems like MHS Genesis, Essentris, and CIS
  • Communicate effectively with providers and healthcare team
  • Support and train junior staff or corpsmen when needed
  • Participate in:
    • Peer reviews
    • Performance improvement initiatives
    • Staff meetings and trainings
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • DoD and MTF policies
    • Joint Commission standards
  • Maintain patient safety, rights, and confidentiality

Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an approved LPN/LVN program
    (ACEN, NLNAC, CCNE, or equivalent military program)

Licensure

  • Current, active, unrestricted LPN/LVN license
  • Valid in any U.S. state or territory

Experience

  • At least 1 year of LPN experience
  • Experience in:
    • Hospital, outpatient, or acute care setting (preferred)
  • Orthopedic experience:
    • 6 months – 1 year preferred

Other Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must meet all health and immunization requirements
  • Ability to complete DoD/MTF training and orientation
