Overview

Location: Fargo VA Medical Center
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (80 hours per pay period)

Pay: $275/hr - $300/hr

Position Type: Independent Contractor/1099

 

The Urology Physician provides comprehensive outpatient and inpatient urological care to veteran patients at the Fargo VA Medical Center. This role is primarily focused on direct patient care, including clinical evaluations, surgical procedures, and specialty exams. The physician will work within a collaborative healthcare environment, ensuring timely, high-quality care while adhering to VA policies and clinical standards.

This position offers a structured weekday schedule with no call responsibilities, supporting strong work-life balance while delivering essential specialty care to the veteran population.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in an outpatient urology clinic and inpatient setting (approximately 90% clinical care)
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide range of urological conditions
  • Perform urological procedures, including but not limited to:
    • Cystoscopies, vasectomies, ureteroscopies, and transurethral procedures
    • Surgical interventions involving the prostate, bladder, kidneys, urethra, testes, and related structures
    • Endoscopic and fluoroscopic procedures, including use of holmium laser and ESWL
  • Conduct inpatient rounds and coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams
  • Provide consultations and manage referrals to other specialists as needed
  • Complete specialty exams (e.g., compensation & pension, Agent Orange evaluations) related to urological conditions
  • Deliver patient education, discharge planning, and follow-up care instructions
  • Adhere to VA policies regarding medication management and clinical documentation
  • Maintain timely patient care in accordance with VA access and scheduling standards

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Urology by the American Board of Urology (ABU)
  • Completion of an accredited Urology residency program (minimum 3 years in urological surgery)
  • Active, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state (North Dakota license preferred)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
  • Valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration and National Provider Identifier (NPI)
  • Active malpractice insurance coverage
  • No history of license restriction, suspension, or revocation
  • Strong clinical and surgical skills across a broad spectrum of urological procedures
  • Robotics experience preferred, but not required
