Position Title: Licensed Vocational Nurse - Hyperbaric Technician
Specific Department: Hyperbaric Medicine
Schedule: Regular duty hours, Monday - Friday from 0730 - 16030
On-Call: Technicians shall pull call 1-2 weeks per month. Call begins on Monday at 4:30 p.m., and ends the following Monday at 7:30 a.m. Oncall hours are specific to those times after regular duty hours. On- call averages 2 emergent treatments per month, which averages 4-6 hours per treatment.
Call-Back: Irregular or occasional work performed by HCWs on a day when no work is scheduled or at a time which requires the HCW to return to the MTF work site from an off-duty status. HCWs must report to the MTF work site within60 minutes of call-back request.

Provide patient care for diverse populations, ensuring compliance with MTF policies and standards.
Prepare and administer physician-prescribed medications, including injections (e.g., prolotherapy, PRP, steroids, botox).
Perform phlebotomy and prepare PRP injections (training provided).
Support procedures by preparing rooms, handling instruments, setting up equipment, and assisting physicians.
Perform specimen collection, labeling, computer entry, and delivery to pathology.
Schedule and educate patients for procedures; provide follow-up and telephone triage under physician guidance.
Maintain and replenish clinical supplies and medications; operate supplemental oxygen and suction equipment.
Use and maintain specialized equipment (e.g., ultrasound, PRP centrifuge, compartment pressure test, gait analysis).
Respond to urgent/emergent situations, initiate CPR, and follow emergency protocols.
Perform and assist with specialized diagnostic and clinical procedures, including wound care and musculoskeletal ultrasound.
Complete and maintain electronic and hardcopy medical records, procedure logs, and ensure confidentiality.
Operate within multiple government systems (e.g., MHS GENESIS, ONENOTE, ASIMS) for mission readiness.
Provide orientation to peers and ancillary staff on clinic procedures and standards.
Perform medication administration, IV therapy, and patient monitoring per protocol.
Conduct medical records review and apply appropriate guidelines for patient needs assessment.
Serve as hyperbaric chamber crew chief, operator, and inside attendant (IAW AFI 48-123).
Obtain Certified Hyperbaric Technician (CHT) certification within 6 months if not already certified; contractor-funded.
Maintain CHT certification through continuing education (12 hours biannually).
Undergo government-required medical and hyperbaric chamber testing for duty clearance.
Operate and troubleshoot all hyperbaric chamber systems (e.g., gas farm, lighting, oxygen monitoring, patient systems).
Train and supervise hyperbaric staff; conduct and document training dives.
Assist with patient care during chamber dives, including positioning, wound vac use, and glucose monitoring.
Perform minor nursing procedures (e.g., wound care, catheterizations, EKGs).
Provide patient education and assist with discharge planning.
Monitor for and report adverse medication reactions.
Dispose of hazardous materials per protocol and maintain sterile processing standards.
Support research activities and equipment configuration for hyperbaric treatment.
Degree: Certificate
Education: Graduate from an accredited community college, junior college, college, university or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by one of the national accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant.
Certifications: Basic Life Support
Experience: Shall have practiced as a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LVN) performing hands-on patient care in the outpatient clinical setting for at least 12 months within the past 24 months. Experience performing care and treatment of patients; operating and maintaining therapeutic equipment; properly administering oral and parenteral medications; conducting paraprofessional portions of physical examinations; or assisting in medical treatment of patients in accordance with established procedures and protocols, within the LVN scope of practice.
Licensure/Registration: Current, full, active and unrestricted license as a practical or vocational nurse.
