Overview

As a TJC Clinical Consultant for a staffing company focusing on compliance, ensure that the temporary clinical staff placed by the firm(s) and the firm's internal operations meet the stringent standards set by The Joint Commission. This role is vital for our staffing companies to maintain TJC certification and signifies a commitment to quality and patient safety. This role is crucial for our staffing firm(s) to maintain the Joint Commission's Health Care Staffing Services Certification, which signals a commitment to quality and patient safety to potential clients.

Responsibilities

Accreditation Readiness & Compliance:

  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure adherence to TJC and CMS standards for temporary clinical staff and staffing firm operations.
  • Conducting mock surveys and gap analyses to identify areas needing improvement and prepare the firm and its placed staff for TJC surveys.
  • Collaborating with firm staff to develop and implement corrective action plans to address any deficiencies found.
  • Staying up-to-date with current TJC and CMS compliance requirements and regulations, as well as relevant state and federal laws affecting healthcare staffing.

 

Personnel File & Credentialing Review:

  • Ensuring the completeness and accuracy of personnel files for all placed clinical staff, including verifying credentials, licenses, and background checks.
  • Reviewing contracts and formal agreements with healthcare organizations to ensure TJC compliance regarding the responsibilities and oversight of placed staff.
  • Confirming compliance with the organization's processes for monitoring the professional performance and skills of placed practitioners.

 

Performance Measurement & Quality Improvement:

  • Implementing and monitoring a set of standardized performance measures specific to per diem and travel temporary clinical staff, as required by TJC certification.
  • Analyzing performance data, identifying trends, and developing strategies for continuous improvement in areas like patient safety and care quality.
  • Generating reports and providing feedback to the staffing firm and client healthcare organizations on compliance status and performance metrics.

 

 

Training & Education:

  • Providing education and training to the staffing firm's employees on TJC standards, compliance requirements, and best practices for placing qualified healthcare professionals.
  • Potentially educating client organizations on their responsibilities and expectations related to TJC compliance for temporary staff.

Qualifications

  • Seasoned nursing or other clinical healthcare professional with a strong background in regulatory compliance and accreditation.
  • 10+ years of experience, including prior roles as a Joint Commission, ACHC, or DNV surveyor, is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to convey technical regulations clearly and concisely.
  • Honed analytical and assessment skills.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, and collaborate effectively with others.
