Overview

Location: Maxwell AFB - 42nd Medical Group

 

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 40 hours a week.

 

Pay: Between $60,000/year - $80,000/year

Responsibilities

  • The Dietitian will execute nutrition policy and program requirements in accordance with instruction and guidance established by the Air Force Surgeon General as well as the Defense Health Agency (DHA).
  • The primary focus of the Dietitian will be to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for patients enrolled at the 42 Medical Group Military Treatment Facility (MTF) after appointments have been scheduled through the appointment line or through referrals by the providers or disease managers.
  • The Dietitian will employ adult learning behavior change theories and teaching techniques to conduct a variety of individual nutrition interventions.
  • The Dietitian may also receive referrals of active-duty members enrolled in the Body Composition Improvement Program (BCIP) to assist members who failed their Body Composition Assessment (BCA) with nutrition interventions to achieve a healthy body composition.
  • The Dietitian will maintain data quality (e.g., coding, GENESIS, MEPRS) and patient encounter documentation of nutrition education and/or medical nutrition therapy in accordance with American Dietetic Association (ADA) Nutrition Care Process, ADA Nutrition Care Manual, and Air Force Dietetics Nutrition Care guidelines and other applicable standards in the patient’s electronic healthcare record (EHR) in GENESIS, the military’s electronic health information system.
  • The secondary focus of the Dietitian, and in partnership with Public Health, will be to identify all facilities on the installation preparing, serving, and/or selling food and will evaluate the local food environment using the Military Nutrition Environment Assessment Tool (mNEAT) at least annually.
  • Results of the mNEAT will be briefed to leadership with recommendations, if applicable, to improve the military nutrition environment.
  • Dietitian will provide nutrition guidance and consultation to Force Support Squadron (FSS) and Air University (AU) dining facility (DFAC) operators to ensure menu options identify high-performance foods and drinks as outlined by the Go for Green (G4G) initiative.
  • Additional responsibilities may include partnering with Health Promotion staff to support installation health and wellness events to meet population health priorities The Dietitian serves as the nutrition expert and communicates and coordinates nutrition programs among local leadership.
  • Employs appropriate social marketing tools to meet program goals and objectives.
  • The Dietitian participates in teleconferences, updates, working groups, review panels, symposiums, and related nutrition education programs and management of operations.
  • Delivers briefings, educational sessions, seminars, and worksite wellness programs, as needed. The Dietitian uses basic computer applications for word processing, record keeping, presentations, and nutrition assessment (e.g., Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, and Outlook).
  • The Dietitian may be required to travel, at Government expense, to attend directed training and/or conferences.

Qualifications

  • Shall read, understand, speak, and write English fluently.
  • Completion of a baccalaureate degree. Graduate from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) or completion of a Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) accredited by the ACEND or completion of a post- Baccalaureate degree Dietetic Internship Program of supervised practice (for a minimum of 1200 hours) accredited by ACEND.
  • Shall have a minimum of two (2) years within the past five (5) years. The experience shall have been in diet therapy.
  • Current registration by the Commission of Dietetic Registration of the of the American Dietetic Association.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted dietetics license.
