Exercise Physiologist

Shall establish and administer effective strength/conditioning known as protocols to maximize the physical performance of individual Airmen. These protocols will ensure tactical conditioning by monitoring and resolving performance trends while addressing operator treatment and rehabilitation needs. In this role you shall provide routine fitness reports to the appointed unit commander or government representative and maintain communication with the operator’s medical support staff to resolve problem areas outside theirscope.

Location: Wheeler Army Airfield

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8 hour shift each day.

Pay: Between $85,000/year - $93,000/year

• Assess the fitness level of the population as defined in the TO using sound epidemiological principals. Use evidenced based exercise and behavior change theories to develop, coordinate, implement, conduct, track and evaluate a comprehensive fitness program aimed at fitness improvement and disease intervention and prevention.
  
• Administer fitness assessments, counseling, prescriptions and, medical exercise/post rehabilitation fitness programs, functional screenings, disease management, preventative services and various other health and fitness programs and activities that meet the community needs.
  
• Design, develop and establish appropriate administrative and management systems, procedures and policies to ensure the highest professional level of fitness programming within the community.
  
• Provide health education expertise, consultancy and advocacy to support a comprehensive fitness program.
  
• Perform unit fitness quality checks and/or staff assistant visits as needed.
  
• Use assessment results and evidenced-based exercise and behavior change theories to plan comprehensive, integrated and effective fitness programs.
  
• Schedule beneficiaries for appointments and conduct associated administrative functions as required.
  
• Plan and conduct submaximal assessments of estimated aerobic capacity by means of cycle ergometry/heart rate monitor and computer.
  
• Accurately retrieve and file beneficiary information IAW local guidance.

• Possess a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology from an accredited university/school program with 3 years of experience OR
• Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Physiology from an accredited university/school program with 5 years of experience.
• Demonstrate sustained experience by working with elite athlete populations, with a minimum of 3 years aggregate experience.
  
• Possess relevant specialized experience to include developing short and long range programs with attributable results with individual athletes and groups of athletes.
  
• This previous experience with athlete populations should include: coordination of Special Operations Forces (SOF) personnel specific performance programs, or work with other elite athletes (i.e. Division I collegiate, Olympic, professional level athletes or SOF-specific tactical professionals)
  
• Possess and maintain current certification by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Functional Movement Screen (FMS) Level 1, and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to include Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training.
• Ability to meet physical demands of training with TACP personnel including the ability to hike over rough terrain and function in austere environments to observe training evolutions and the ability to assist with strength and conditioning testing and training protocols, and lift and manipulate loads or weights up to 25 kilograms.
