Overview

Position Title: Sr. Architect/Project Manager

 

Type of Employment: Part-time, On-Call

 

Location: Hawaii

 

Pay: Between $60/hr - $75/hr (based on work experience)

Responsibilities

This position is dedicated to achieving the goals of technical excellence and client satisfaction through leading project teams. Successful applicants will establish and maintain strong working relationships by collaboratively and effectively communicating with internal staff and strategic clients. Characteristics of this position include a proven technical ability as well as being able to inspire teamwork, deliver successful projects on time and on budget, and sustain sales and revenue from federal and local municipal engineering projects. Other responsibilities include:

 

  • Technical competency with the ability to make difficult design decisions.
  • Serve as a technical resource expert in the architectural field
  • Serve as a senior project architect and perform duties associated with these roles.
  • Serve as the lead architect and project manager on multi-discipline, integrated projects.
  • Lead and collaborate with a project team of employees and subconsultants to ensure our service delivery addresses client needs.
  • Act as the primary point of contact and coordinator for business development, pursuit leadership, service delivery, and client engagement for a set of local clients.
  • Actively participate in preparation of project fee proposals and interviews. Motivate and engage a team of peers to assist with strategic pursuits.
  • Promote Kaula AE through exposure at local conferences and committees.

 

Working with a team of professionals consisting of architects, engineers and scientist, you will be conducting feasibility studies, preparing preliminary/conceptual plans, designing plans and documents, cost estimating, preparing bid specifications and evaluating contractor bids, follow through during construction and operations of the design.

 

Travel may be required on a limited basis to support ongoing architectural projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor or Masters in Architecture, from an accredited university and 10 - 15 years of planning/design experience in architecture.

 

Professional architect license is required, with a preference of a Hawaii architect license or the ability to obtain one through reciprocity within 6 months of employment.

 

Applicants must possess excellent communication and organizational skills.

Ideal candidates will have strong technical background in planning, design, management, and business development experience with federal and local government agencies. Leadership and entrepreneurial spirit will be critical to providing superior service to our clients and maintaining a strong architectural service business line.

 

Highly desirable candidates will have a variety of architectural experience, diverse project management experience, a professional familiarity with the local and federal market, and a keen ability to develop and motivate teams and move projects forward towards completion.

 

Strong business development skills are desired to help expand a new and growing firm. Desire to be part of a new team.
